Rhisael “Ric” Rabe ‘94-D

On May 15, 2025, at exactly 7:15 AM Nepal time, Brod Rhisael “Ric” Rabe, a proud son of Cotabato City, reached the summit of Mount Everest, standing at a breathtaking 8,848 meters above sea level. With this remarkable feat, Brod Ric became the ninth Filipino to conquer the world’s highest mountain—and the first ever from Cotabato City to do so.

But this is more than just a personal triumph. This is Alay sa Sambayanan in its purest form.

Brod Ric Rabe is a proud member of our fraternity—the UP Alpha Sigma Fraternity, Batch 1994-D. As Alpha Sigmans, we are guided by the principles of Truth, Reason, and Justice, and we hold as our highest ideal the offering of our talents, achievements, and lives for the people—for the Sambayanan.

Brod Ric’s ascent is not just a physical accomplishment—it is a spiritual and symbolic act of service. With no corporate sponsors or media spotlight, and driven only by deep conviction and purpose, Brod Ric climbed the world's tallest peak not for self-glory, but to inspire others—to show that greatness can come from quiet determination, and that the Filipino spirit can rise to any summit.

In doing so, Brod Ric carried not only the Philippine flag but also our fraternity’s banner in his heart. His courage and resolve remind us that service to the nation can take many forms. Sometimes it’s in the classroom, in the community, or in the halls of policy. And sometimes, it’s on the roof of the world—where the cold bites, the air thins, and only the most determined stand tall.

We take pride in Brod Ric Rabe’s accomplishment because it reflects the very core of who we are. He exemplifies what it means to live our ideals—not through words, but through bold and humble action.

As he stood atop Everest, Brod Ric offered more than a silent prayer. He offered the climb, the struggle, and the triumph—to his family, his hometown, and to the Filipino people.

To us, and to all Alpha Sigmans, this is a shining example of what it means to live out Alay sa Sambayanan.
